Legacy Cottages in Muskoka 80 per cent sold
The last official weeks of summer may be here, but Ontario’s cottage country real estate market remains hot.
The milestone comes a little over a month after sales were launched at the Legacy Cottages, which is the first piece of a visionary master-planned community, one that may take up to 20 years to complete.
While the larger community will remain a work in progress for some time, The Rosseau Group has moved quickly at the Legacy Cottages shoreside site, which will be home to 43 Muskoka-style cottages on Lake Rosseau.
Shovels have broken ground, and the first phase is expected to be completed on schedule for spring 2018.
“Our initial hope was to bring life to the old Lakeside Lodge Resort and the area around it,” says John Mehlenbacher, a co-founder of The Rosseau Group.
“We are truly humbled by the incredibly positive response that we have seen for this new community,” Mehlenbacher adds.
Pricing for these lakeside cottages runs from $659,900 to $1.6 million, providing noticeable value given the prime location.
“It was really important for us to create a community that not only fits into this town, but is also accessible for those who generally wouldn’t be able to afford Muskoka,” says Mehlenbacher.
The well-priced cottages have been designed by Bill Hicks, who, among other accolades, is a prominent golf club architect. Hicks has drawn on iconic Muskoka architecture to create modern all-weather cottages steeped in tradition.
Peaked roofs meet open-concept living, with fully furnished interiors featuring stone fireplaces, old woods and shiplap.
The cottages will range considerably in size from 1,484 square feet up to 2,797 square feet, but each will have a great room.
“We wanted to give people this incredible experience. The memories created at the cottage last a lifetime,” Mehlenbacher adds.
To enhance the cottage experience, The Rosseau Group has planned for a number of exclusive amenities, including an infinity pool, hot tub, central pavilion, parkette and boat slips.
These amenities will join existing ones, including charming local retailers and, of course, the tranquil waters of Lake Rosseau.
